Ekati Mine
Since its opening in 1998, the Ekati Diamond mine has come to produce four per cent of the world's diamond supply by weight and six per cent by value. The mine is located 300 km northeast of Yellowknife and is operated by BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. Diamonds are sent from the mine to the Yellowknife office, where they are cleaned and prepared for appraisal.
